What You’ll Experience
Part 1 — Film Strategy & Workflow (1.5 Hours)
We’ll break down:
• How film actually responds to light
• Exposure theory for wedding environments
• When to shoot film vs digital
• How to prep film for a wedding day
• Setting client expectations around film
• Communicating properly with your lab
• Scanner differences and how they affect your scans
• Understanding and leveraging lab profiles
• How to edit film scans without destroying the integrity
Attendees will submit 4 images in advance for review.
Avan will identify themes, strengths, and common mistakes — then break them down live so everyone learns from each other.
This isn’t generic advice.
It’s tailored insight.
Part 2 — Live Peer-to-Peer Shooting (2 Hours)
You’ll pair up and photograph each other using film.
No styled shoot.
No model.
Just real photographers learning how light, exposure, and decision-making affect results.
Avan will circulate, guide, meter, and adjust in real time — explaining how small shifts create major differences in scan outcomes.
You’ll leave understanding:
• Why your film sometimes looks “off”
• How to shoot intentionally for your editing style
• How to get consistent results from roll to roll
